Camporgiano with its cafés and good range of shops and services is about 3km from the smallholding. It has a railway station with direct trains to Lucca, Pisa and Aulla which link to all the popular Tuscan towns and cities, and beyond.

Poggio is about 10 minutes by car from the bustling market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, 1 hour from Lucca (50km) and 1.5 hours from Pisa airport (about 75km).

Near to the house there are a riding-school (4 km), 6-hole golf course (5 km), tennis (7 km) and sailing and fishing on Lake Pontecosi (2km). The national parks of Orrechiella and Alpi Apuane are close by, offering some amazing walking and cycling experiences. The Versilian beaches are about 1 hour’s drive away whilst local ski slopes are only 30 minutes away and the excellent resort of Abetone also about 1 hour.
